Membership

LCSAR members are volunteers who are strongly motivated to help people in their community during challenging conditions and circumstances. LCSAR is a highly-motivated unit that strives to achieve high standards of professionalism and grace under pressure. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and professions, but are united in their desire to work together to save lives.

Candidates for memberships are required to pass a background check by the Sheriffs department, undergo Fundamentals of Search and Rescue, communications, and First Responder medical training, attend regular membership meetings, trainings and participate in missions.

People interested in joining LCSAR should attend the membership meetings held on the third Thursday of each month at the LCSAR headquarters building on at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds.

After completing the background check done by the Sheriff's office, prospective members are interviewed by the SAR Management Team and upon approval by the general membership, can become associate members. Full membership is conditional on meeting training requirements and participation levels.
